This Summer there was a large outbreak of COVID at the facility that resulted in 63 confirmed cases of Covid among its residents. Of these 63 cases, 17 resulted in the death of the resident. Report: Mourning families seek justice after care center deaths in Redding

Recently, California State Regulators determined why the nursing home had such a large outbreak. In a scathing 15 page report, investigators discovered that the nursing home had failed to implement appropriate policies and procedures to prevent the introduction and spread of Covid throughout the facility. The nursing home was cited for failing to comply with California law by punishing employees who reported feeling ill with symptoms of Covid. As a result, two nurses reported that in September 2020 they were forced to work with symptoms of the virus. The nursing home was also cited for not sufficiently testing employees for Covid, not having appropriate infection control policies in place, and for not having adequate PPE for its staff. The report concluded that these “failures resulted in a significant amount of residents, and staff contracting and spreading this illness through the building which placed everyone at significant risk.”
